Event Planning Program

This program gathers the information needed to make accommodations in activities for people with disabilities who have registered for an event or program. The accommodations make full participation possible. This strategy is used for summer camp, youth outings, religious education classes, conferences, retreats and other social gatherings and events.

• Meet with staff to think through the planning of the event from the perspective of inclusion.

• Train staff in how to implement the DAMI Inclusion Assessment Survey Form as part of the registration process for the event.

• Assess the registration information about those who will attend the event.

• Plan accommodations in activities so that people with disabilities can participate fully in the event.

• Provide training to staff on integration of people with specific disabilities as needed.

• Evaluate the outcome after the event.
